Building websites with WordPress is something I genuinely enjoy. It’s a powerful and flexible platform that allows me to create anything from simple blogs to full-scale business websites. My process is straightforward but effective, ensuring that every site I build is functional, visually appealing, and optimized for performance.  

1. Picking the Right Theme  

A website’s design matters. I start by selecting a theme that fits the website’s style and needs. While free themes from the WordPress repository work for some projects, I often use premium themes from sources like ThemeForest for more customization options. If needed, I tweak the theme using WordPress’s built-in Customizer or a page builder like Elementor.  

2. Adding Essential Plugins  

Plugins help extend the functionality of a WordPress site. I install only what’s necessary to keep the website running smoothly and securely.

3. Customizing the Website  

Once the basics are in place, I focus on customization. I adjust colors, fonts, layouts, and branding elements to match the site’s identity. At this stage, I also create key pages like:  

– Home  

– About  

– Services (if applicable)  

– Blog  

– Contact  

Using Elementor or Gutenberg, I design custom page layouts that are visually engaging and easy to navigate.  

4. Optimizing for SEO and Performance  

SEO is a priority in every website I build. I make sure each page is optimized for search engines by:  

– Conducting keyword research  

– Writing SEO-friendly titles and meta descriptions  

– Using proper heading structures (H1, H2, H3)  

– Optimizing images for faster loading times  

– Ensuring the site is mobile-friendly and responsive  

Additionally, I test site speed and implement caching and image compression to improve performance.  

5. Testing and Going Live  

Before launching, I thoroughly test the website on different devices and browsers to ensure everything looks and functions as expected. A website is never truly “finished” it requires regular updates and maintenance. I keep everything up to date, monitor security, and optimize for performance over time. I also track SEO rankings and make improvements as needed to keep the site performing well.
